Photo Instructions for Virtual Body Contouring Consultation
(Panniculectomy, Excess Skin Removal, Arm Lift, Thigh Lift)
To help our surgeons accurately evaluate your condition and determine whether surgery may be medically appropriate, please submit the photographs listed below prior to your virtual consultation. These photographs are important for assessing excess skin, tissue overhang, skin irritation, and other findings commonly reviewed when determining medical necessity.
Photo Attire
- Wear underwear, shorts, or other minimal lower-body garments as appropriate.
- Do not wear compression garments, shapewear, leggings, sports bras, or loose-fitting clothing that may conceal excess skin.
- For abdominal procedures, the entire abdomen must be visible.
- For arm procedures, wear a sleeveless top or bra that fully exposes the upper arms.
- For thigh procedures, wear underwear or shorts that allow visualization of the inner and outer thighs.
- Long hair should be pulled back away from the neck, shoulders, back, and arms.
General Guidelines
- Use a plain, solid-colored background.
- Stand in a well-lit room with bright, even lighting.
- Do not use filters, editing tools, or image enhancements.
- Stand naturally with good posture.
- Ensure the entire treatment area is visible.
- Photos should be taken at eye level from approximately 4–6 feet away.
- If possible, have another person take the photographs.
Required Photos (8 Total)
- Front View — arms relaxed at your sides.
- Left Side View — arms relaxed at your sides.
- Right Side View — arms relaxed at your sides.
- Back View — arms relaxed at your sides.
- Front View – Arms Raised — raise both arms overhead.
- Back View – Arms Raised — raise both arms overhead.
- Left Oblique View (45-Degree Angle)
- Right Oblique View (45-Degree Angle)
Additional Procedure-Specific Photos
For Panniculectomy / Abdominal Excess Skin
- Close-up front view of the abdominal overhang (pannus).
- Side views demonstrating the extent of excess skin.
- Lift the abdominal fold and photograph any skin irritation, rashes, redness, moisture, odor-producing areas, ulceration, or skin breakdown beneath the fold.
- If available, include photos showing recurrent skin issues during flare-ups.
For Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)
- Front and back views with arms extended horizontally.
- Side views with arms slightly abducted to demonstrate excess hanging skin.
- Close-up photos of any skin irritation or hygiene-related concerns.
For Thigh Lift
- Front, side, and inner-thigh views demonstrating excess skin.
- Photos of any chafing, skin irritation, recurrent rashes, or skin breakdown.
- Standing photos that clearly demonstrate tissue redundancy and skin laxity.
Optional Supporting Photos
If applicable, please submit photographs of:
- Rashes or skin irritation beneath abdominal folds.
- Chafing or irritation between the thighs.
- Skin infections, ulcerations, or breakdown.
- Areas requiring powders, creams, or prescription medications.
- Previous surgical scars.
- Areas of significant asymmetry.
