Facial fat grafting (fat transfer) involves harvesting fat from a donor site — typically the abdomen or thighs — via liposuction, processing it, and injecting it into targeted areas of the face for volume restoration. Because the tissue is your own, the risk of rejection is eliminated. Some of the transferred fat becomes permanent; your surgeon accounts for this during planning. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia or sedation and takes 1–2 hours.
