Breast Reduction Virtual Consultation Photo Instructions
To help our surgeons accurately evaluate your symptoms and determine whether breast reduction surgery may be medically appropriate, please submit the photographs listed below prior to your virtual consultation. These photos are also helpful for documenting findings commonly reviewed by insurance plans when determining medical necessity.
Photo Attire
- Remove all clothing from the waist up.
- Do not wear a bra, sports bra, camisole, or other garment that covers or supports the breasts.
- You may wear underwear or shorts on the lower body.
- Long hair should be pulled completely away from the neck, shoulders, and breasts.
- Remove necklaces or other items that may obstruct the photos.
General Guidelines
- Use a plain, solid-colored background (if possible).
- Stand in a well-lit room with bright, even lighting.
- Do not use filters, editing tools, or image enhancements.
- Stand naturally with good posture.
- Ensure the entire chest and upper abdomen are visible in each image.
- Photos should be taken at eye level from approximately 4–6 feet away.
- If possible, have another person take the photos for you.
Required Photos (8 Total)
- Front View — arms relaxed at your sides; entire chest visible from collarbones to below the breast fold.
- Left Side View — arms relaxed at your sides.
- Right Side View — arms relaxed at your sides.
- Back View — arms relaxed at your sides.
- Front View – Arms Raised — raise both arms overhead.
- Back View – Arms Raised — raise both arms overhead.
- Left Oblique View (45-Degree Angle) — position yourself halfway between the front and side view.
- Right Oblique View (45-Degree Angle) — position yourself halfway between the front and side view.
Additional Photos (Recommended)
If applicable, please also submit:
- Close-up photo of shoulder strap grooving.
- Photo of any recurrent rash, skin irritation, or intertrigo beneath the breasts.
- Photo demonstrating asymmetry if one breast is significantly larger than the other.
