Fat Transfer
Your own tissue

Harvesting and repositioning fat to enhance shape naturally
Fat transfer (fat grafting) uses liposuction to harvest fat from areas where it's unwanted — the abdomen, flanks, or thighs — and reinjections it where shape or volume is desired. Because the tissue is your own, results are natural-looking and free from implant-related concerns. At Surgical Suites of Beverly Hills, fat transfer procedures are performed in a private OR with the precision this technique requires.

What is fat transfer?
Fat transfer involves three steps: liposuction of a donor site to harvest fat cells, processing and purification of the harvested fat, and injection into the target area. Common body applications include buttock augmentation (BBL), breast augmentation, hand rejuvenation, and correction of contour irregularities. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia or sedation and takes 1–3 hours depending on the sites involved.

FAQs
Common questions about this service and what to expect.
Cosmetic fat transfer is not covered by insurance. Reconstructive applications may have coverage eligibility depending on the indication.
Post-operative follow-up is managed through your surgeon's office. Our team is available to support you through recovery.
Liposuction access incisions are tiny (3–4 mm) and placed in inconspicuous locations. They are rarely noticeable once healed.
Fat transfer at our facility is performed under general anesthesia or IV sedation, with a board-certified anesthesiologist present throughout.
Yes — fat grafting is an effective technique for correcting depressions, asymmetries, or irregularities from previous body contouring procedures.
Neither is universally superior — each has advantages. Fat transfer uses your own tissue and looks and feels natural, but is limited by available donor fat and retention rates. Implants provide predictable, immediate volume. Your surgeon will help you choose the right approach.
Typically 50–70% of transferred fat integrates permanently. Your surgeon plans for this by transferring a calculated excess. Final results are visible once swelling resolves at 3–6 months.
Recovery depends on the sites treated. Donor sites behave like liposuction recovery — 1–2 weeks of soreness and swelling. Recipient site swelling peaks within the first 2 weeks and resolves over 4–8 weeks as final results emerge.
